Never “push” the group that is ahead of you in the links. This is consider behavior that is boorish and not in the spirit of the game. You must wait your turn, no matter how badly you want to smack the ball.
You should never “push” the group that is ahead of you in the links. This is considered boorish behavior and not in the grand spirit of the game. You must wait your turn, no matter how badly you want to hit that ball!
A good way to spend waiting time is to find your ball and figure out the club you will need for the next shot. That way, you will be following the rules while hopefully gaining an advantage for yourself by hitting the next shot better than the ones you are playing with. This is called “ready golf.”

Many new types of golf clubs are hitting the market every year. It is an understatement to say that it can be a challenge to pick new clubs. If you are a new golfer, you will be amazed by the sheer number of clubs offered. Many things can be customized to fit you. However, knowing in the beginning which customization gets the best bang for the buck is daunting. Below are some guidelines to think about when choosing golf clubs to enhance your game.
The shaft is the most important part of the club. It is the metal rod that connects the grip and head. You can change the length of this to accommodate your swing style and your height. The first set of clubs you start with have certain properties of density and flex and you may want to keep these the same for your first customized golf clubs and simply change the length to accommodate you. However, to progress you need to find clubs that fit all your needs.

Bring sunglasses and use sunscreen. This game is enjoyed out in the open, often while enjoying the sun. Sunglasses sheild your eyes from sun damage and allow you to see the course clearly in bright conditions, while sunscreen will protect your skin from damage caused by sunlight. Remember to apply sunscreen on your face. A brimmed hat or a visor can protect your face too.

For most beginning golfers, the game of golf may seem simple, yet upon closer inspection, it quickly becomes overwhelming.
You are given the task of hitting a golf ball hundreds of yards into a small hole the size of a Dixie cup. Luckily, sand traps, water hazards, hills and other elements are placed along the course to make this learning experience that much more agonizing.
This is daunting enough. But then, you have your choice of a bag full of clubs. Each is slightly different than the other, and you have no idea what to do with any of them. The game of golf is like a language you do not speak. When do you use your driver? What about woods versus irons?

Golf has become a very popular game over the last forty or so years. Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, and Tiger Woods are all champions that have landed in the public consciousness. Courses like Pinehurst, Augusta National and the Blue Monster at Doral are all familiar to us.
Golf has become popular for several reasons. Being outside is fun. You get a whole body workout. You can network with friends or business associates. Finally, the game will continue to challenge you.
Your scorecard shows your improvement over time which keeps you playing again and again.
Here is one very basic lesson in golf for the person who has no idea where to start.
Golf is played on an eighteen-hole course; each hole has its “par”, which is the number of tee shots (drives), fairway shots, chips (short hits as you approach the green), and putts.

My golf coach, as one of the first things he taught me, gave me the right way to position the ball for a good swing. This might not seem important to non-golfers, but if you play you’ll already know there can be big differences depending where the ball is on the ground.
Standing side-on to the direction you’ll be aiming, there are two main elements to consider. The first is how far away the ball is from you if you drew a line directly away from your eyes (ie perpendicular to the direction of the shot). The second is the distance of the ball on the ground from each foot.
Starting with how far from you the ball should be, you basically want to put it on the ground at the distance of the club head during your swing. So that the natural point of impact of the club with the ground is where the ball should be.

Golf is a game of rules and manners. It is a very good idea to know the basics before you play for the first time.
Whether you are playing alone, in a twosome or a foursome, you must always wait your turn. Do not hit the ball at the same time as another player. If you are playing with others, wait for your turn to hit the ball.
Never rush the group in front of you. Be courteous to the group playing in front of you by waiting until they are well ahead of you before hitting your ball.
You will keep the game moving if you determine what club youll need and how you are going to hit it while you wait for your turn. You will always be ready and you won’t feel rushed.

It’s never easy asking for help, but in golf, it is almost a necessity. Unfortunately, we often ask our buddies and partners, when in reality we should take a lesson or two.
We think that a Pro would critique harshly, but they are honest, positive and very helpful.
Lessons at the local course aren’t as expensive as you might think and they are worth it because your game will improve rapidly and cause you less frustration, making the game much more enjoyable for you.
Of utmost importance, is being honest about your game. The Pro will ask you what you want to start with; driving, chipping, putting or whatever you feel you need help with.
Listen carefully and follow the instructions. You may have doubts if the Pro changes your stance, your grip or your swing; the Pro knows best.

“Drive for show, putt for dough” is the lesson we’ve all seen and learned from watching professional golfers in every tournament and championship.
The masters of golf can drive a ball from here to eternity, but it all boils down to how many strikes of the ball it takes to put the ball in the hole. The long accurate drives don’t amount to anything if you’re unable to putt accurately.
Choosing a putter is important, but using whatever putter you have consistently is more so. I’ve had the same putter for fifteen years; I know what it feels like in my hand, I know its weight and how that plays into my putts.
Putting takes lots of practice. Typically, we drive the ball eighteen times in a game, but putt at least
